Carolina Reaper is a hybrid variety obtained by crossing Pakistani Naga Morich and Red Habanero. It was developed in South Carolina, USA, by Ed Currie of the PuckerButt Pepper Company.

Characteristics of the Plant:
Appearance: The fruits are deep red in color, with an irregular shape and wrinkled surface. They usually reach a length of about 6 to 8 cm.

Cultivation Cycle:
Germination: Seeds need a temperature of about 25°C to germinate, a process that takes about 10 days. The Scottex method can be used to facilitate germination.
Transplanting: The plant grows well both in pots and in the vegetable garden. In vegetable gardens, transplanting is recommended between April and June, maintaining a space of 50 cm between rows and 40 cm between plants. In pots, a diameter of 20-25 cm with good drainage is ideal.
Care: Needs a fertile, well-drained substrate. Watering should be constant but not excessive to avoid water stagnation

Uses:
This chili pepper is mainly used to make sauces, hot oils, creams and jams. Its flavor is described as fruity with hints of cinnamon and chocolate, but it should be used sparingly to avoid overpowering other flavors

Nutritional Benefits:
Rich in vitamin C, provitamin A and antioxidants such as flavonoids. It has antibacterial and digestive properties, and the capsaicin present helps improve blood flow and the cardiovascular system .

Cultivation Warnings:
Sensitive to cold, the plant must be protected from low temperatures and frost.
Requires continuous exposure to sunlight from the first few days after planting

Additional Notes:
Capsaicin, the compound that imparts spiciness, can cause an intense burning sensation. Caution is advised and start with small amounts to test personal tolerance.
